Waking up in this Tuscan paradise was such a delight! The view here doesn't even look real, and as much as we try, pictures can't do it any justice! After a nice, quiet sleep -other than the noises of some birds of spring-we woke up refreshed and excited to do some more exploring!
But first, of course, we have breakfast! Best breakfast of the trip goes to our incredible hosts at Piatina! There were cakes, bread, jams, fruit, juices, eggs, prosciutto, coffee, cappuccinos, really whatever we wanted! And all was served in front of an expansive view of Tuscany!
Oh, they also have these 2 dogs here that are so adorable! Opal and Persea are best friends. He is a puppy and Opal will crawl and then he follows her and lays down in front of her! She climbs all over him and he loves it. When we woke up and came downstairs, they were both waiting to say hello to her!

Sienna was absolutely gorgeous! So much history and a ton of "old shit"! The centerpiece of the town is an incredibly enormous church with several museums and chambers that we visited. Inside the walls of the church is a bone from the arm of John the Baptist!

Wow! a museum of lots of old statues and this stained glass is 13th century and very impressive in size! Lot's of things in here from the 13th to 16th centuries!

Opal wouldn't keep her bow in and was having a really tough hair day.
This was a crazy ornate glass case with a skull in it! Peter now wants to have this done with his skull.
The big square in Sienna where they hold the 'running of the horses', similar to running of the bulls. It's called the Palio di Sienna, an annual horse race. 10 bareback riders dressed in appropriate colors to represent different parts of the city. This was not happening when we were there...probably a good thing!
We stopped for lunch in what we found out was a VERY old building! Although the lunch was good, when they renovated the building to make it a restaurant, they discovered chambers underground that dated back to 3rd century B.C.!!!!!! Including a piece of an old tomb! They have left everything as it was found! Very cool spot!!! They said it connected to the domo (ancient church) via tunnels! Whoa!
After Sienna, we wanted to get back to our little paradise! For more food and wine of course! We decided to make the most of this view and eat outside! We also decided that we would stay another night in this gorgeous oasis!
The chef made Opal a special vegetable soup! And this wine was very nice!

Our phone died, so we didn't get much of dinner, but it was amazing!!!! They gave us some buffalo mozzarella that was just dropped off from a farm in Naples! It was incredible! We've never had anything this fresh and amazing!!!

And then she had a melt down because we were taking forever and eating about 10 courses!!!!
