Rome, Italy Day 2!

Rome in a Day! Well, we only had one full day, so we set out to try and see, eat, and walk as much of Rome as we could! First stop, the Colosseum right by our house. The line was very long to get in and it was really hot, so we just looked at the outside. We did get tickets to see the Colosseum and the Forum, but we didn't use them because we didn't want to wait in line in the heat! First stop, was a pasta place Peter heard was one of the best. It was called 'Pasta Chef', which we were a little leery about, but it ended up being absolutely incredible! The pasta was insane and the people who worked there were the sweetest!

Walking around the streets of Roma!

The police were riding around the Colosseum in a Lamborghini!!!

 The outside of the forum.

Peter was in pasta heaven!

Opal eating pasta!

Afterwards we headed over to the Trevi Fountain. It was VERY busy. All of Rome was actually. It was a big change from Croatia for sure.

The Spanish Steps...we climbed them all with Opal and then back down!

After all the steps, we of course needed a pick me up, so we stopped at the 2nd oldest bar in all of Italy for a drink and snacks!!!

The Vatican! Peter got pretty excited about 'his' church.

Sunscreen stop!

Next up, the Pantheon. It was truly spectacular. Maybe Sara's favorite in Rome. The circle cut out in the ceiling is just unbelievable! It's so cool to think back to someone thinking, "I know, let's put a whole in the top so we can look up to heaven". Ummm, super moving!

Then on to more ruins and official looking old buildings...remember this is a self guided tour with absolutely no information!

A beautiful square we stumbled upon.
Someone's old castle, I forget who's it was!

It was so sunny, we kept trying to shad Opal, but she kept peeking out...I mean who blames her! No one wants to miss Rome in a day!

We found this street and it was very pretty. We had also walked about 8 miles at this point.

Peter was pretty excited about the history of malls..

We watched sun start to set across these amazing ruins!

When we got back to our place, we had walked a REALLY Long time, so the wine bar across the street looked very inviting! Especially since Opal seemed to really hate our nifty little elevator!
We were just going to do a glass of wine, but we ended up making a table on the sidewalk and staying for dinner! Opal was wiped and fell asleep in Sara's arms.

We forgot to take Opal's 47 week old picture, so this had to do! She was really into it!

End of our Rome in a day!! Goodnight!

Off to Paris! A final stop before home.

We awoke in Verona to discover that Sara had accidentally booked our flights to Paris for the day before, so we missed those! Whoops! Luckil...
