Umbria Day 3!

It feels so lovely to wake up here in the countryside with all of these amazing natural sounds! And having cake and pie and cookies for breakfast is pretty cool too! Each morning, Luccia has prepared like 3 fresh baked goods! It's gonna be hard to eat oatmeal for breakfast when we get home!

We got our breakfast on, and then off to Gubbio. When we got to Gubbio, the parking wasn't quite clear. We finally found a lot, but were a bit confused when the machine gave us a plastic coin?? But, we went with it!

Leaving our agriturismo!! It's so beautiful!

Our interesting parking chip!

There were a ton of motor bikes...all part of some festival. They ride through all the different towns. This day they were in Gubbio! We thought of you Gary!!!

As soon as we got out of the car, it started to rain a little, but that gave Peter an opportunity to do some Italiano shopping! And he got a pair of cool pants. He was pretty proud after, strutting the streets of Gubbio with his new pants! But also kind of ashamed that the store clerk had to pull out the largest size of pants he owned. Oh, well, on to lunch!

We came to a trip advisor spot and it was incredible! Very fancy cuisine.  The bread here was a star itself! All homemade, four different types of flour.  One was a tipo flour, semolina, walnut, and even a coco flour!! Starters of a foam egg with black truffles, artichoke flan, and then some AMAZING pasta! Asparagus, ricotta, and macaroon ravioli and truffle and sausage linguine.  For dessert, one of Peter's favorites, a almond cake with white chocolate.  And a great red wine with a really cool decanter!!! Wine glasses that Robin would approve of!

Eggs with black truffle! And Artichoke flan!

 Coolest wine decanter ever!

We were clearly fascinated with this decanter!! haha

 Sooooo good!

Asparagus and macaroon ravioli! yum yum yum!
Peter's pasta...and our friends visiting from England at the next table :)
They brought Opal Moon 2 cookies, one vanilla, one chocolate! We couldn't say no...so here is Opal trying chocolate for the first time!!! They are Sara approved! So good!!

Opal approved too!

After lunch, we were in a pasta coma!  So we found a bench and watched the world of Gubbio pass by! After we sat for a while, we decided we needed to see those donkeys, so we stopped at a little shop to look for our lunch wine and grabbed some cheeses, salami, and chocolate to go and we were off!

Relaxing on our bench! Opal was asleep!

When we got back, we went in search of the new baby donkey that had just been born! Massimo, one of the owners found him and brought him over to us!!  He was so soft!!! He was just born either that night before or that morning!  Afterwards, Peter went for a run and Sara & Opal fed the donkeys and goats.

The baby donkey!!!!!

Baby and momma.

 Sara wants a donkey now

Then there was a storm in the distance and we got to watch it roll in!!! Opal even got to see hail for the first time!

Peter was just happy we survived!

And you know what comes next! Dinner!!
Started with a wild boar pappardelle, followed by an amazing chicken (and yes, it was one of the chickens that was from their farm--not one of the ones Opal was playing with, but it was fresh and we know it had a good life!) Dessert was a homemade chocolate souffle!

 Life is pretty good here!

Opal wanted to climb the stairs non-stop and she was pretty tired so it was off to bed!

Off to Paris! A final stop before home.

We awoke in Verona to discover that Sara had accidentally booked our flights to Paris for the day before, so we missed those! Whoops! Luckil...
